 Conversion Therapy

 Time's Up, Labour.

At around 12:30pm on the 17th of July 2024, the King finished his speech at the State Opening of Parliament where a ban on conversion therapy was announced. There is still no draft bill. Time's up.

 Overview

On the 17th of July 2024, the Labour Party made a commitment in the King's Speech to ban conversion therapy - including for trans people. That promise remains unfulfilled.

Every day that passes without action is another day LGBTQIA+ people are left at risk. Trans people in particular continue to face harmful practices that seek to erase or supress their identity. These practices - often carried out under the illusion of "therapy" or "support" - are deeply damaging and have no place in a modern, progressive society.

At Pride in Labour, we believe:

🛑 Conversion therapy in all forms must be banned - without exception.

🏳️‍⚧️ Trans people must be explicitly protected in any piece of legislation.

⏱️ The time for action was long ago. No more excuses.

We are keeping the clock running until the Labour Party delivers the ban it promised.
