No - Pride in Labour is not officially affiliated with or recognised by the Labour Party. We are an independent grassroots group made up of LGBTQ+ members, supporters, and allies who are active within the Labour Party.
We organise, campaign, and advocate from inside the party - but we are not endorsed by its leadership, and we do not support the current direction of the party. Our work is rooted in socialist values, queer liberation, and the belief that the Labour Party must do better for LGBTQ+ people.
We also advocate for these values across the wider labour movement, working in solidarity with trade unions, activists, and community organisers fighting for justice, equality, and liberation. We champion queer liberation and socialist values within both the Labour Party and the wider labour movement.
This is probably one of our most frequently asked questions, and it is a good and important question to ask. We're called 'Pride in Labour' because we are LGBTQ+ people and allies rooted in the labour movement - and we believe in bringing the spirit of Pride into the fight for justice.
We are not proud of the direction the current Labour leadership has taken on trans rights. But we are proud to be part of a long tradition of queer resistance and working-class solidarity. Our statement is our name: we are here, we are not backing down, and we are fighting to reclaim Labour as a party that stands for all of us.
We may choose to endorse or support candidates who strongly align with our values, especially those with a track record of standing up for LGBTQIA+ rights. So far, however, we have not endorsed any candidate and we will only ever do this in consultation with our membership base.
