For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers - Supreme Court Case

Hello all, I'm sure we're all anxiously awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, 16th April, regarding the definition of a woman in law.

The Pride in Labour Committee is working to make sure there's a plan regardless of the outcome, but it's so important that we keep you involved!

If you have any concerns, questions or feedback about this ruling, please contribute below!

They can not win if they do it would be in direct conflict with the GRA and would cause a major legal issue between us and the European court of human rights. If it ruled in favour of FWS then all we can hope for is the trans community can pull together and mount a legal case. In the short term not much we can all do other than release statements and write to the EHRC

STATEMENT: Reforms to Gender Recognition

The Pride in Labour Executive Committee convened this evening to discuss reports that the Labour Party is shelving its plans to make the Gender Recognition process more accessible for the Trans community. We would like to make it clear that the current process is out of date and dehumanising and that reforms to Gender Recognition are necessary.

The Labour Party must clarify their position and commit to its manifesto pledge of removing indignities for trans people, including meaningful reforms to the Gender Recognition Act. Rolling back on this commitment will not only be a betrayal of the LGBTQ+ community but also a failure to uphold the mandate of the British people at the 2024 general election.

The Puberty Blocker Ban - What Should We Do?

In light of the recent Puberty Blocker Ban announcement we at Pride in Labour obviously want to push back any way we can.

However, given our limited influence in the party, the media and within the membership this may be very difficult to do. I suggest our role in a situation like this is to agitate to increase our influence and push organisations with influence to do something.

I am perfectly happy to take suggestions for what we should do and criticisms of the approach I've suggested.

Speak to the Welsh/Scottish Governments (especially Wales as it is a Labour Gov) to try and dissuade them making the same decision.

I personally know a few WG ministers and I can try to get a meeting with them.

Forum Rules and Guidelines

Hello, and welcome to the Pride in Labour forum!

Here, you are very welcome to start discussions, join in on existing discussions, or just keep an eye on what's happening within the organisation - but, whatever you choose to do, we have a few rules which we need you to respect.

  2. Stay on topic Try to keep posts relevant to the theme of the forum. So, for example, if we have a forum category based around the cost of living crisis, please try to keep to that topic.

  3. Check for duplicate content To avoid the forum being clogged with the same stuff, have a quick check to see if your topic is already being discussed. That way, we…
