For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers - Supreme Court Case
Hello all, I'm sure we're all anxiously awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, 16th April, regarding the definition of a woman in law.
The Pride in Labour Committee is working to make sure there's a plan regardless of the outcome, but it's so important that we keep you involved!
If you have any concerns, questions or feedback about this ruling, please contribute below!
STATEMENT: Reforms to Gender Recognition
The Pride in Labour Executive Committee convened this evening to discuss reports that the Labour Party is shelving its plans to make the Gender Recognition process more accessible for the Trans community. We would like to make it clear that the current process is out of date and dehumanising and that reforms to Gender Recognition are necessary.
The Labour Party must clarify their position and commit to its manifesto pledge of removing indignities for trans people, including meaningful reforms to the Gender Recognition Act. Rolling back on this commitment will not only be a betrayal of the LGBTQ+ community but also a failure to uphold the mandate of the British people at the 2024 general election.
Pride in Labour Responds to Labour’s Policy Shift on Gender Recognition
Following the Labour Party's decision to withdraw its commitment to simplifying the legal gender recognition process, the Pride in Labour Executive Committee will convene at 8:00 PM today to discuss our response and next steps.

They can not win if they do it would be in direct conflict with the GRA and would cause a major legal issue between us and the European court of human rights. If it ruled in favour of FWS then all we can hope for is the trans community can pull together and mount a legal case. In the short term not much we can all do other than release statements and write to the EHRC
